Summary:
On this five week roadtrip through the Rockys we spent most of our nights camping on an air mattress in a tent (Gonex) that was not much bigger than the mattress itself. A few nights along the way we stayed in airbnbs or used our hotel rewards for a discounted nights stay but for the most part it was campgrounds. We had a variety of sites, some only provided a picnic table and a drop toilets, others had pools or coffee shops. Some of our favorite camping gadgets were the AstoAI fridge, Jackery power station and water container. It was a nice learning experience to see how long we could stay in a more rustic setting.
We travelled all over Colorado and a bit into Utah. We stayed in awesome mountain towns like Ouray, Silverton and Steamboat Springs. We also hiked in four National Parks, one being the Great Sand Dunes National Park, which had our favorite campground called Pinon Flats. From our campsite we could see and walk right into the dunes.
The second week into our trip Ryan ran the Emerald Mountain Marathon and summited three 14ers (Mt Antero, Mt Princeton, Challnger Point). To see some video footage from those mountains check out our youtube channel.
Overall this trip was filled with many memories like meeting up with friends in Moab to go hiking in Arches Natl Park, touring a Gold Mine in the mountains of Colorado, and even just playing cards and eating mac n cheese with hotdogs in our tent because it was raining outside.
