Summary:

Our first official out of state adventure together!🧑 Kate was able to find incredibly cheap flight into Phoenix, AZ. We rented a car and drove north to Sedona which is a mecca for beautiful hikes. One lesson we found out the hard way was that some of the hikes required parking permits. (Red Rock Pass Program)We later found out that their are some handy kiosks that allow you to purchase these passes for the duration that you plan to stay. Another helpful tips is get up early as parking is quite limited at most of the trailheads. Since we had rented the car and did not want to pack a tent for the flight we decided to car camp and lay some sleeping pads down in the back of the Chevy Blazer we were renting. Sedona in January can still be quite cold as we found out, so make sure when you are booking a campsite look at the elevation of said campsite because temps can drop far lower then expected the higher up you go! Overall this trip was one that help season us as travelers, made us adapt to change, but also inspired us to travel more and started the idea of this website all together.
