Our Wedding & Gatlinburg

We started our journey to our desitnation wedding in Fontana Dam, NC with a roadtrip, first stop Georgetown, KY. We took our time going down as it is a 12 hour one way trip from our place in Norton Shores to Fontana. We were also excited for this trip because it allowed us to use our new rewards program with Hilton Honors. With the credit card you are able to rack up points fast especailly when booking a Hilton Hotel(12X the points!) The first day of driving was quite miserable as it rained for the entire 7 hour drive. Once we arrived we were able to relax in the indoor pool and hot tub before the choas of preparing for a wedding would begin.

The next day we had much better weather for our final trek into Fontana Dam. One of the cool things about this drive into the resort is you have to take the Dragon’s tail in for the last hour and half. The Dragon’s tail is known world wide for its 318 turns in just 11 miles in the mountains. Most of our guests were not 100% prepared for this which made for great conversation at our greeting bonfire on Friday. Over the next 2 days we set up and prepared for our wedding. While we would like to say everything went super smooth we did have few hiccups which caused a bit of stress but our big day turned out amazing. We got married down by the dam at an incredible outlook (pictured above). It was the best day ever and a kick off to our new adventure of marriage and relying solely on our airbnb business for income. Below are a few of our favorite photos from the wedding captured by Rafferty Photo.

After the wedding we had a mini honey moon in Gatlinburg, TN. Our real honey moon is a 3 week international trip to Peru (writing from Cusco at time of publishing). Gatlinburg was a great place to unwind and just do tourist things. A few of the things we did on our stay was ax throwing, mini golf, moonshine tastings, ober skylift, and lots of great food! We again used our Hilton rewards and with app we were able to check in skip the front desk and use the app as our door key for our room! Here are a few of our favorite photos from our stay.
